The Turkish Olympic Committee (TOC), International Canoe Federation (ICF) and Turkish Canoe Federation (TKF) ran a technical and practical training course for canoeing coaches from 17-18 March in the city of Antalya. The course is part of a framework established by the TOC to contribute to the technical development of sports coaches in Turkey.
During the course, participating coaches gained valuable knowledge and experience in many areas such as advanced training modeling, competition rules and technical and tactical training planning.
Damla Güldoğan, who participated in the course, said: “Before the course, there was a lack of knowledge by our country's coaches regarding C class. We gained advanced knowledge about detailed technical analysis and training methods. I think this course will be very beneficial for both coaches and future generations of athletes.”
ICF expert Zak Mahmoudi, who led the training, stated that coaches in Turkey already possess high-level theoretical knowledge and as a result, more advanced subjects were covered during the course. Paritipating coaches will therefore now be able to provide their athletes with acceleration strategies, theoretical and practical analysis, training development, systems of sport clubs, and many other benefits. Mahmoudi said that participants had the chance to learn about the latest practices and developments from international canoeing.
Turkish Canoe Federation Canoe Sprint Technical Board Chairman Tolga Çelik said: "We would like to thank the TOC for organizing this course, which is very important for the continued development of our coaches."
TOC provided 10,000 USD in financial support to the Canoe Federation within the scope of Technical and Practical Training for Canoe Sprint Coaches.
