Olympic Athlete and Team Support Program
Turkish Olympic Committee offers monthly financial assistance (scholarships) to Turkish athletes who train for and who have the potential to win medals at the Olympic Games, within the framework of the "Olympic Solidarity Program" run by the International Olympic Committee. Accordingly, 15 Turkish athletes in training for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games have been given $600 a month on a quarterly basis since November 1, 2012, and this scheme will continue until February 28, 2014. TOC also offers additional financial assistance up to $5,000 to those athletes who will have to pay participation fees to go through a qualification process for participation in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. Similarly, TOC provided 17 top Turkish athletes with monthly financial assistance before the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games in order to help them succeed. The said assistance is subject to renewal every four months following the submission of a quarterly technical improvement report to TOC.
TOC provided the Turkish Volleyball Federation with $100,000 to support the Turkey Women?s National Volleyball Team during their preparations for the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games as part of the "Olympic Solidarity Program." It also gave financial assistance to athletes preparing for the 2012 Innsbruck Winter Youth Olympic Games and to the Turkish Ski Federation for camps organized abroad and in Turkey as well as for participation in international competitions.
Training Seminars on Olympic Sports for Trainers
Trainers play a vital role in the success of an athlete. Trainers and other technical staff who keep themselves up-to-date with the latest developments and innovations in their fields and who develop themselves professionally contribute more decisively to the development of sports in general and to athletes in particular. In addition to offering scholarships to Turkish athletes, TOC invites experts from abroad and organizes training courses within the framework of the "Olympic Solidarity Program" and sends its own trainers abroad to be trained themselves.
