yın kurullarında görev alan Dr.
Susan M Shirreffs. IOC Sporcu
Beslenmesi diploması lisansüstü
diploma olarak kabul ediliyor ve
dünyada bu branşta en fazla tanı-
nan ve aranılan diplomalardan bi-
risi. Programa katılanlar hem ge-
nel spor beslenmesinin temeli
hem de Olimpik spor branşlarına
özel pratik sporcu beslenmesi ko-
nularında güncel, kanıta dayalı ve
bilimsel bilgilerle donanıyorlar.
Türkiye’den bu programı başa-
rı ile tamamlayarak diploma tö-
renine katılmaya hak kazanan
ilk kişi Emine Sporel Özakat oldu.
Diploma töreni 24 Nisan 2015
günü IOC’nin Lozan’daki merke-
zinde programı tamamlayan 80
mezundan 40 kadarının katılımı
ile gerçekleşti. IOC sporcu beslen-
me diplomasını bugüne kadar 400
sporcu beslenme uzmanı tamam-
lamış bulunuyor.
Emine Sporel Özakat, lisans
eğitimini ‘İnsan Biyolojisi ve
Sağlığı’ ve lisansüstü eğitimi-
ni Biyokimya bölümü ‘Toksikoloji’
dallarında İngiltere’nin Surrey
Üniversitesi’nde tamamladı.
Doktora çalışmasını ise Hollanda
Utrecht Devlet Üniversitesi, Rudolf
Magnus Enstitüsü, ‘Moleküler
Nörofarmakoloji’ konusunda
bitirdi. Aynı zamanda bir sporcu
olan Emine Sporel Özakat, spo-
ra çocukken yüzme, lise yılların-
da atletizm ve basketbol (Beşiktaş
Kız Basketbol Takımı, Atatürk
Kız Lisesi, Surrey Üniversitesi
Kız Basketbol Takımı, İngiltere
Üniversitelerarası Kız Milli
Basketbol Takımı) oynadı, halen
teniste senyör kategorisinde spor
yapmaya devam ediyor. Boğaziçi
Üniversitesi ve İstanbul Teknik
Üniversitesi Moleküler Biyoloji ve
Genetik bölümlerinin kuruluş aşa-
malarında bulunan Emine Sporel
Özakat, 16 yıl süreyle bu kurumla-
rın akademik kadrosunda yer aldı.

Olimpiyat Merkezi’nde bir Türk ta-
rafından ilk defa alınan bu diplo-
manın kendisine IOC Medikal ve
Bilimsel Komisyonu’na başkanlık
eden ilk Türk spor ve bilim ada-
mı tarafından verilmesinin de bu
günü çok değerli ve gurur verici
kıldığını belirtti.

Exercise Metabolism, Medicine

Asian Journal of Exercise and Sport
Science. Upon successful comple-
tion of the programme the partic-
ipants are awarded with the IOC
Diploma in Sports Nutrition, one
of the most valued and recog-
nized post-graduate sports nutri-
tion diplomas in the world. The pro-
gramme equips the participants
with the basic as well as the practi-
cal aspects of sports nutrition.
Emine Sporel Özakat is the first
Turkish person that has success-
fully completed the programme
and qualified to take part in the di-
ploma ceremony that took place in
IOC Headquarters in Lausanne on
24 April 2015 with about 40 of the 80
graduates from 16 countries. There
are about 400 practising profession-
als with an IOC Diploma in Sports
Nutrition worldwide.
Emine Sporel Özakat, has re-
ceived her B.Sc. in Human Biology
and Health and M.Sc. in Toxicology
(Biochemistry Department) from
Surrey University, England. She car-
ried out further research in Rudolf
Magnus Institute of Utrecht University,
Holland and gained her Ph.D. in
‘Molecular Neuropharmacology’.
She has been involved in sports
since childhood and enjoyed swim-
ming, athletics and profession-
al women’s basketball (Atatürk Kız
lisesi, Beşiktaş Kız Takımı, Surrey
University Women’s Basketball
Team, England Universities Women’s
National Basketball Team) and is en-
joying senior category tennis current-
ly. She has worked in the past as an
academic staff at Boğaziçi University
and Istanbul Technical University,
Molecular Biology and Genetics
Departments for 16 years.
Emine Sporel Özakat, very proud
to receive the first IOC Diploma in
Sports Nutrition in Turkey and stated
that it was an honour to receive the
Diploma from the first Turkish sport-
sperson and a doctor who is lead-
ing the IOC Medical and Scientific
Commission.
