Letters from Free Sports Schools
(ÜSO) Students
Hasret Cem SEVİNÇ
I am Hasret Cem Sevinç;
I was born in 1995 at Sivas. Like many other youngsters, I commenced my
sporting life by playing football. My first encounter with ÜSO was when
my basketball loving friends in our musical group invited me to Pendik
ÜSO one weekend. For the last four years I have been engaged in many
tournaments, festivities and other activities sportingly and musically,
thanks to our coach Ali of Pendik ÜSO and our teacher and ÜSO President
Suzan Kum.
This year I won a scholarship from Haliç University, ‘Sports
Administration’ department of the School of Physical Education and
Sports. Once being a student in this family environment and now be-
coming a teacher within the same environment is what I call the
‘ÜSO Possibilities’. I now work as an assistant coach at Kartal ÜSO
with my coach and teacher Mr. Korur. ÜSO may literally mean
‘free sports school’ but it is actually a ‘free life school’. We are
not taught only the sports in this life school, they teach us lov-
ing, comradeship and sharing here. What I saw during my
years at the ÜSO as a student was that we are a family and
our family is growing every day. There are so many people
who contributed to make what I am today. I owe ÜSO huge
thanks. I am proud and happy to be a member of this family.

1995 Sivas doğumluyum. Birçok genç gibi spor hayatıma futbolla başla-
dım. ÜSO ile tanışmam, müzik grubumdaki basketbol tutkunu arkadaş-
larımın hafta sonları beni Pendik ÜSO’ya çağırmalarıyla başladı. Pendik
ÜSO’nun antrenörü Ali Hocamız ve ÜSO Başkanı Suzan Hocamızın yardım-
larıyla son dört senedir bu kurumun bünyesi altında birçok turnuva, şenlik
vb. birçok organizasyonda gerek sporda gerekse müzik grubumla görev
aldım. Bu sene Haliç Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi Spor Yüksek Okulu’nun
‘Spor Yöneticiliği’ bölümünü burslu kazandım. Bir zamanlar bu aile or-
tamında öğrenci olup, şimdi aynı ortamda öğretmen olmaya ÜSO’nun
imkânları denir. Şu an Kartal ÜSO’da Korur Hocamın yanında
yardımcı antrenör olarak çalışıyorum. ÜSO kelime anlamıyla ücretsiz spor
okulu olabilir ama aslen ücretsiz hayat okuludur. Bu hayat okulunda sa-
dece spor yapmayı öğretmiyorlar bize. Burada sevgiyi, kardeşliği, paylaş-
mayı öğretiyorlar. ÜSO’da öğrencilik hayatım boyunca şunu gördüm, biz
bir aileyiz ve ailemiz her geçen gün daha büyüyor. Benim bu günlere gel-
memde emeği olan birçok insan var. Bana bu imkânları tanıdıkları için
ÜSO’ya kocaman bir teşekkür borçluyum. Bu ailenin bir üyesi olmaktan
gurur ve mutluluk duyuyorum.

TMOK Ücretsiz Spor Okulları’nın iki öğrencisi Burak Dağlıoğlu ve Hasret Cem Sevinç, Haliç Üniversitesi
Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksek Okulu’nu burslu olarak kazandılar. İkisi de şu an aynı zamanda daha önce
öğrencisi oldukları TMOK ÜSO’da antrenör olarak görev yapıyorlar. Dağlıoğlu ve Sevinç, ÜSO’yla ilgili
düşüncelerini, bugünlere erişirken edindikleri tecrübeleri ve buna ilişkin değerlendirmelerini ÜSO Başkanı
Suzan Kum’a yazdıkları birer mektupta dile getirdiler.
Burak Dağlıoğlu and Hasret Cem Sevinç, two students from the Free Sports Schools (ÜSO) project of the
NOCT, won scholarships from Haliç University, School of Physical Education and Sports. Both former students
of the ÜSO are now serving as trainers within the NOCT ÜSO project. Dağlıoğlu and Sevinç expressed their
experiences, assessments and sentiments about ÜSO in the letters they wrote to Suzan Kum, President of the
Free Sports Schools Commission of the NOCT.
