Dünyanın tek kıtalararası bi-
siklet turunda bu yıl Antalya
etabı yerine Kemer ve Finike
etaplarını izledik. Ayrıca, ar-
tık Türkiye Turu’na biyolojik pa-
saport sahibi olmayan takımlar
katılamadı. Bu değişikliklerle
ilgili neler söylemek istersiniz?
“Genel parkuru değiştirme-
mek kaydıyla Tur’da her yıl çe-
şitli etap değişiklikleri yapıyo-
ruz. Daha önce Pamukkale eta-
bı vardı mesela, onu değiştirdik.
Bodrum yerine Turgut Reis etabı-
nı koyduk. Daha önce Manavgat
etabını düzenledik. Bu değişiklik-
leri yaşadığımız bazı aksaklıkla-
rı dikkate alarak, bize gelen ta-
lepleri değerlendirmek koşuluyla
yapıyoruz. Bazı belediye başkan-
ları, kaymakamlar ve valiler, tura
çeşitli katkılar sağlayarak ken-
di memleketlerine de etap konul-
ması konusunda ısrarcı oluyor-
lar. Seyirci ilgisini de dikkate ala-
rak bu talepleri değerlendirip uy-
gulayabiliyoruz. Örneğin, Elmalı
bizim için en önemli etaplardan

referee, again with my encour-

ful career for 22 years and quit-
ted refereeing when he was right
at the top. My youngest brother
Adil first stepped into sports with
football and played in various
teams as a professional play-
er. Afterwards he started play-
ing at the Turkish Beach Football
National Team and now he is
coaching the national team. My
cousin, Kamil Abitoğlu, is one of
the prominent referees in Turkish
football. I, as a family member,
had considerable contributions in
his becoming a football referee.
It is nice to have so many sports
persons in one’s family. We moti-
vate and support each other and
22 yıl geçirdi ve tam zirvedey-
ken hakemliğe veda etti. En kü-
çük kardeşim Adil ise spora fut-
bolla adım attı, çeşitli takımlar-
da profesyonel olarak futbol oy-
nadı. Daha sonra plaj futbolu
milli takımında futbol oynama-
ya başladı. Şu anda Plaj Futbolu
Milli Takımı’nın antrenörlüğü-
nü yapıyor. Teyzemin oğlu Kamil
Abitoğlu da Türkiye’nin önem-
li futbol hakemlerinden biridir. Bir
aile ferdimiz olarak onun hakem-
liğe girmesinde de benim önem-
li katkılarım vardır. Ailede bu ka-
dar çok spor adamı olması güzel
bir şey… Birbirimizi motive edi-
yor, destek oluyor ve paylaşıyo-
ruz. Çoğu zaman antrenmanla-
rı birlikte yapıyoruz. Ben de on-
ların sıkı antrenman temposuna
ayak uydurmaya çalışarak for-
mumu koruyorum.”
Bu yıl 50’ncisi düzenlenen
Cumhurbaşkanlığı Bisiklet Turu
yine dünyaca ünlü sporcu ve
takımların mücadelesine sahne
oldu. ‘Bisikletin 50 yıllık tutku-
su’ sloganıyla düzenlenen tur-
da bu sene ne gibi yenilikler ve
değişiklikler vardı?
“50. yıl olması nedeniyle elbet-
te daha fazla önem verildi. Sayın
Cumhurbaşkanımız Abdullah Gül
de bu özel yılda organizasyona yo-
ğun bir istek ve destek göster-
di. Daha ünlü ve kariyerli sporcular
yarıştı. En önemli yeniliklerden biri
olarak Sayın Cumhurbaşkanımız
bu yıl köşkün kapılarını sporculara
ve gazetecilere açtı. Burada bir ya-
rış düzenlenerek turun tanıtımı ya-
pıldı. Organizasyonda da daha ti-
tiz davrandık. Kısaca, 50. yılda her
şeyin daha kaliteli, akılda kalıcı ol-
ması için elimizden geleni yaptık.
Dile kolay, 50 yıl. Tur, Türkiye’nin
belki de en önemli ve uzun soluk-
lu spor organizasyonu durumunda.
Bu yıl turun her etabından önce bir
de halk etabı düzenledik. Böylelikle
her etap öncesi 300–500 kişinin
bisiklete binmesi sağlanmış oldu.
Böylece bisikleti daha fazla kişiye
sevdirdiğimizi düşünüyorum.”

The 50
th
edition of the
Presidential Tour of Cycling
this year was again the scene
for the struggle among world
famous cyclists and cycling
teams. What kind of nov-
elties and changes were
there in this year’s Tour with
the slogan of
“50 Years of
Cycling Passion”
?
“A lot more importance and at-
tention was attached to the or-
ganization as it was the 50
th
anniversary. Our President
Abdullah Gül himself displayed
a great interest and support
for the organization in this spe-
cial year. More famous cyclists
with careers competed. One of
the important novelties this year
was that the cyclists and media
were invited to the Presidential
Palace where a symbolic race
took place for the promotion of
the Tour. We were more metic-
ulous with the organization and
did our best to make it a more
high-class and memorable event.
50 years… Easier said than done.
The Tour now is in the position of
perhaps the most important and
long-running sports organization
of Turkey. We organized stag-
es open to public before each of-
ficial stage, enabling 300 to 500
cyclists pedalling and, to my be-
lief, increased the number of
people who love cycling.”
This year, in the only in-
ter-continental cycling
tour of the world, we ob-
serve the Kemer and Finike
Stages instead of the Antalya
Stage. Additionally, only rid-
ers having biological pass-
ports were allowed to par-
ticipate in the Tour of Turkey.
