Zamanla değişen ve geli-
şen komisyonun, amaç ve he-
deflerini saptamak için yap-
tığı yoğun toplantılar netice-
sinde Ücretsiz Spor Okulları
(ÜSO) projesi doğdu. 2002 se-
nesinde ise çok ‘Özel’ bir çalış-
manın startı verildi. İsterseniz
bu ilham dolu hikayenin nasıl
doğduğunu, geliştiğini ve ne-
leri amaçladığını TMOK ÜSO
Komisyonu Başkanı Suzan
Kum’dan dinleyelim:
“Tüm insanların eşit doğduğu-
na ve toplumda eşit haklara
sahip olduklarına olan inancı-
mız 2002 senesinde ÜSO pro-
jesi içinde ‘Özel Grup’ çalış-
malarını başlatmamıza sebep
oldu. Özel çocuklarımız ve
gençlerimiz için toplumda bir
farkındalığın yaratılması, on-
ların da anlaşılma gereksinim-
lerinin karşılanması ile özel-
likle adeta evlerinde hapsol-
muş bu özel çocuklarımızı top-
lum önüne çıkartmak hede-
fimiz oldu. Çok kısıtlı bir grup
da olsa onların hayatına do-
kunarak, topluma bu konuda
herkesin katkı sağlayabilece-
ğini göstermek istedik. Dönem
sonlarında düzenlediğimiz
ÜSO Spor Şenlikleri ile çocuk-
larımıza dönem içerisindeki
kazanımlarını toplum önünde
sergileme şansı veriyor ve on-
ları madalya ile ödüllendire-
rek küçük yaşta başlaması ge-
reken ‘engelliliğin doğal bir
şey olduğu’ anlayışının geliş-
mesine ve rehabilite edilmele-
rine katkıda bulunuyoruz.”
2002’den bu yana yürütü-
len projede çocuklara sadece
sportif aktiviteler aşılanmıyor.

The Women’s Commission
was later renamed as the
Free Sports Schools (FSS)
Commission.
Free Sports Schools (FSS)
Project of the NOC of Turkey
was born as a result of the in-
tensive meetings to determine
the vision and mission of the
flourishing Commission. And
in 2002, a very ‘Special’ op-
eration was initiated. Let’s
hear from Suzan Kum, the
President of the Free Sports
Schools (FSS) Commission of
the NOC of Turkey how this
inspirational story has start-
ed and about its development
and objectives:
“Our conviction that all peo-
ple are created equal and de-
serve equal rights has been
the basis of starting the
‘Special Group’ works within
the context of the FSS Project
in 2002. Our aim was to put
these special children, im-
prisoned at their homes, in
front the public via creat-
ing awareness in the socie-
ty with regards to our special
children and youngsters and
that their needs to be under-
stood should be met as well.
We wanted to show the public
that everybody can contribute
to this issue, even if it was by
a limited group only, by touch-
ing their lives. We are provid-
ing our children with an op-
portunity to display their ac-
quisitions of the year in front
of a community, helping them
for an early development of
the mentality that ‘disability is
a natural matter’ and contrib-
uting to their rehabilitations
