The first seminar of 2016 within the International Association of Athletics Federation’s (IAAF)Kids' Athletics grassroots development programme was held in Atakoy Sports Hall on 14-15 January in Istanbul. 85 trainees attended the seminar. Kids’ Athletics Co-ordinator Necdet Ayaz made the opening speech of the Kids’ Athletics Coaches Education Seminar and stated that the project continues in Turkey since 2014 as well as 196 other countries and the added extras to the project were highly appreciated by the IAAF.
Dokuz Eylül University academician and Turkish Athletics Federation (TAF) Board of Education Asst. Assoc. Dr. Levent Gençler conducted the applied exercises for the 7-12 age group kids. The presentation of ‘Psychological Approach Towards Children in Sports’ was made by Ankara University academician and TAF Board of Education Assoc. Prof. Dr Perican Bayar. ‘Substance Dependence and Children’ presentation was made by Ankara University academician and University Sports Federation Vice President Prof. Dr. Kadirhan Sunguroğlu and Turkish Olympic Committee (TOC) Fair-Play Commission member and Project, Sponsorship and Media Board member of the Kids’ Athletics Co-ordination Haldun Domaç made a ‘Fair-Play’ presentation. 155 students attended the practical session from Medeni Berk Primary School.
İsmail Akçay, Ali Ergenç, Fikret Çetinkaya, Selahattin Yıldız, Ali Polat, Mehmet Naili Baskan, Turhan Göker, Nursel Gülay, Aynur Taşdemir, Turhan Şahin, Ekrem Özdamar, Necati Çeteci, Hülya Figen Karadağ and Şükrü Çaprazlı attended the ‘Timeless Values’ section which was included in the Project with the motto “Those who do not value their history cannot shape their futures”
